Lino Ferreira awarded with prestigious ERC Starting Grant

Lino Ferreira has been awarded with a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant. Only five projects to be executed in Portugal have been approved under this call.
The ERC calls are targeting top researchers of any nationality who are based in, or willing to move to Europe, this year more than 4741 applications were received. With a budget of almost €800 million, ERC has selected 536 early-career top researchers across Europe to develop their best ideas at the frontiers of knowledge.
Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Máire Geoghegan-Quinn commented: “In a global knowledge economy we need new ideas to compete. So investing in world-class frontier research and in the next generation of scientists is one of Europe’s top priorities”.
