Rita Sá Ferreira was awarded with a Fullbright scholarship. The Fulbright Award Ceremony for 2019/2020 was hosted by the U.S. Ambassador George E. Glass and attended by the Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education Manuel Heitor.
Our group has been represented by Arnab, Catarina, Miguel, Susana and Vítor in CRS Annual Meeting in Valencia. They presented different works about light triggerable technologies for controlled release of proteins and small molecules and about controlled release and in vivo imaging of small extracellular vesicles.
Luís Monteiro and Lino Ferreira wrote a short article about the cardiovascular system and exercise. Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and researchers from UC-Biotech and biotechnology companies from Biocant Park gathered on the 22nd of March to share the main strategic lines and the vision of these institutions in order to strengthen their relationship and promote future partnerships.
Miguel Lino has received the best poster award with the poster entitled "Spatio-temporal controlled delivery of miRNAs for modulation of cell activity" at the 10th International Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Stem Cells and Cell Therapies, held in Covilhã from the 12th to the 14th of October.

Miguel Lino, PhD student from the doctoral program in Biosciences of the University of Coimbra, defended his PhD on the 20th of June. His thesis was entitled: "Light-triggerable nanomaterials for the delivery of biomolecules"

Catarina Praça de Almeida has defended her PhD thesis in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine - Biotechnology and Health in February 14th 2017. Catarina's thesis was entitled: "Brain-Like Endothelial Cells Derived from Stem Cells to Study BBB Development and Targeting".
