Very interesting video prepared by Inês Tomé about the molecular basis of ageing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfrZqNCY8kQ
Two projects, DYNABrain e RESETageing, led by Ana Luísa Carvalho and Lino Ferreira, respectively, were awarded with more than 3 million euros by the european programme Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation promoted by Horizon 2020. The main objective of the RESETaging project, financed in the twinning category, is to promote the scientific and invovation skills of the University of Coimbra in [...]
The kick off meeting of the Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing took place in Coimbra on the 21st of January. The main objective of this new institute is the creation of the first reference Centre in Southern Europe, focusing on the biological processes of ageing and on the design of new strategies to delay or surpress [...]
Our research work, recently published in Angewandte, has received the attention of several news agencies websites, reaching a broader audience. This work describes the development of a light-sensitive nanoparticle library for the delivery of non-coding RNAs. From the 160 formulations identified, 6 were more efficient than the majority of the commercially available formulations, giving an [...]
Filipe Rodrigues received the best poster prize at the XIIIth Spanish-Portuguese Conference on Controlled Drug Delivery with the poster "High-throughput screening of a combinatorial polymer library of nanoparticles for controlled delivery of messenger RNA". Filipe has been awarded with a travel grant to attend the 2020 Controlled Release Society Annual Meeting & Exposition in Las Vegas.
Carlos Jesus, PhD student in our lab, received the best presentation award with the oral communication entitled: "Urinary extracellular vesicles as a tool for Regenerative Medicine" in the III National Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences. The congress took place in Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa from 25th to 27th of October.
Emanuel Quartin received the Crioestaminal-SPCE-TC award in regenerative medicine. This award was attributed in the last SPCE-TC conference in Lisbon and distinguishes the best publication in the field of regenerative medicine published between 2016 and 2017. Emanuel Quartin and Carlos Boto, former PhD students in our group, are co-authors of this paper published in Nature [...]
Rita Sá Ferreira was awarded with a Fullbright scholarship. The Fulbright Award Ceremony for 2019/2020 was hosted by the U.S. Ambassador George E. Glass and attended by the Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education Manuel Heitor.
Our group has been represented by Arnab, Catarina, Miguel, Susana and Vítor in CRS Annual Meeting in Valencia. They presented different works about light triggerable technologies for controlled release of proteins and small molecules and about controlled release and in vivo imaging of small extracellular vesicles.
Luís Monteiro and Lino Ferreira wrote a short article about the cardiovascular system and exercise. The article was published in Diário de Coimbra and resulted from the colaboration between CNC, European network FOIE GRAS, the Program Erasmus+ and Federação Académica de Desporto Universitário under the scope of European Universities Games 2018 that took place in [...]
